Supplies an excellent authentic picture of daily camp-life, especially to camp Struiswijk, incl. a detailed description with ground-plans of this notorious camp, including the so-called "Bersiap"period, after the liberation and the repatriation to the Netherlands. The subtitle "Fishimban IJo Arimasen" represents the phrase spoken by women to Japanese guards, checking barracks at night. A very fine copy.

Her youth in Sumatra, after her parent's divorce, reconstructed from her mother's diary, education at Batavia secondary school, the paficic war and japanese occupation of Indonesia. Her contributions to the Indonesian revolution, her stay in the U.S.A. and her final return to an independent Indonesia. A mixture of personal and political notes, a unique report on colonialism, war and revolution. Very good copy.

Dutch language commemmorative compilation of contributions about the horrors and personal experienced during the so-called Bersiap period in liberated Indonesia afer the japanese ippression 1942-1945. Bersiap is the name given by the Dutch to a violent and chaotic phase of the Indonesian National Revolution following the end of World War II and the end of the japanese oppression. The indonesian word Bersiap means "Get ready", or "be prepared". Unfortunately [dutch female inmates and children] were left without protection by lack of european troops were attacked, murdered and tortured by small indonesian groups of murderous indonesian youngsters. Very good copy with some significant contributions.

Junyo Maru, followed by a 25pp. compilation concerning an eye-witness report from a dutch P.O.W., a mate, describing the Junyo Maru disaster.
Dutch language compilation extracted from an original unpublished manuscript by Willem Punt, under the title "652; Built in Liverpool 1908", with as topic the part describing the torpedoeing, by H.M.S. "Tradewind", of the S.S. "Junijo Maru", a japanese freighter(built Liverpool 1908), 18th September 1944 near Bencoolen, a slavelabour transport of some 2200 P.O.W. (600 Europeans, 10th Bat. KNIL, and 1600 Ambonese and Menadonese) under command of Lt.Cmdr. R.N.R. Upton, and some 4000 Javanese coolies ("Romusha"), causing a great number of losses. Few literature is available on this human drama. Very good copy.

ADDED A copy, A-4 sized, printed recto/verso, bi-lingual text, english/dutch, being a [provisional] Survey of the Indonesian Collection of the State Institute [of War documentation, RIOD), loosely inserted.
Dutch language introduction to and translation of a pocket-diary as kept by the Japanese Imperial Soldier Kuniada Hahashinotoshi kept between Showa 16th-17th (December 4, 1941-9 March 1942), which includes expert comment by translator J.J.C.W. van Nooten. The Diary was found in 1946 and donated to the Dutch State Institute of War Documentation, RIOD. The diary also contained the Imperial Japanese Decrees of 4 January 1882 and 7 July 1938 and official regulations to the Battle-field. This issue also contains a contribution (pp.48-51) to warcrimes committed by Captan Imperial Japanese Army Sone(Sonei) Kenitji (Kenjichi), his trial and execution 7 December 1946, with some illustrations after authentic camp drawings. Very interesting. Good copy. (spine with a modern cloth strip, a bit dog-eared, paper a bit yellowing, NO signs of brittleness however).
