Odd issue of this dutch language propaganda weekly, published at Batavia by [Dutch] Government Information Service, R.V.D., supplying information to the european society in post-war Indonesia during the dutch-indonesian [armed] dispute 1945-1950, which includes a contribution on the shifting balance of power in Southeast Asia. Very well preserved copy. (some tears to centre fold skilfully restored).

Official publication of the Federal State Eastern Indonesia, being the Estimate and accountability-bill for the year 1949 as presented by the then Minister of Finance Hamelink. The Federal State of Eastern Indonesia was formed during the dutch-indonesian dispute 1945-1949; the dutch were very much in favcur of such a construction, but recluctantly accepted after negotiations by the Sukarno administration. It would prove lated being a still born political solution. Fine copy. Scarce.

Dutch language minutes with appendices by which an outline is given of the dutch-indonesian conference at Denpasar, resulting in the fundament of the formation of the Federal State of Eastern Indonesia ["De Groote Oost"] with as President Tjokorda Gde Rake Sumkawati (1899-?). The objective of this conference between dutch and indonesian delegates was to formate a Federal Indonesian State (Republik Indonesia Serikat), in order to end the dutch-indonesian armed dispute and forming a dutch favorite political consturction of Commonwelth between Indonesia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, under strong dutch political and economic influence. This survey has been oublished backing the Dutch Government political construction of the "Republik Indonesias Serikat", or R.I.S., also called "United States of Indonesia", to be ruled by dutch friendly, and, or supporting Indonesian politicians. The objective was to create a federal state loyal to the dutch, thus obstructing the Sukarno c.s. demand of independence. Supplies a good historic insight in dutch political machinations, that failed however. Rare.(contents showing brittleness of paper at beginning and end).

Dutch language scholarly survey about the "Romusha", javanese forced laborers during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in World War II, 1942-1945. In this study the fate of some 275.000 Romusha worked for the japanese military on Java, Sumatra and on the BNurma-Thailand Reilway. Some 25.000 were recuperated and repatriated after the japanese surrenden. Only few studies on the topic available in dutch. Very fine copy.

Informs dutch soldiers on hygiene and sound nutrition, beverages and alcoholics, occurrance of [tropical] diseases as malaria, cholera, typhoid, tuberculosis, etc., personal hygiene and care in barracks as wearing badly fitting clothing and shoes, haircuts, bodycare, dogs at barracks, visits to campongs, smoking, etc., which also includes hints on protective sexual intercourse and a special supplement on veneral diseases. Almost unchanged reprint after original pre-war Royal Dutch East Indian Army regulations. Very good copy. .
