Stories by an assistant-minister, about the christianization of the population of North-west Seram or, Ceram (Moluccan Island group), e.g.: A tale on the origin of Seram from the sun and the moon has been included; also with i.a. notes on the pressure on the Alfurese population by the socio-political Association "Kakehan"and by muslim-teachers. ADDED relevant correspondence between Van der Kroef and A. Schiebergen/J.H. Ritzema Bos, original typed letters with authentic signatures with as topic deliberations and proposed recommendations. FURTHER ADDED an original monochrome portrait photograph of Professor Van Der Kroef.
An original provisional draft of a schholarly contribution, partly in dutch and english, drafted by Professor Justus M. van der Kroef, Bridgeport University, Connecticut, U.S.A., in which the right of selfdetermination and independence related to the Republic of the South Moluccas, R.M.S., is still to be pursued 21 years after the official Proclamation of Independence, the present legitime position of the R.M.S., including remarks on the dispute between West-New Guinea or, West-Papua and the Republic of Indonesia. Very well preserved collection. Rare.

Brochure, dedicated to the then Minister of Colonial Affairs I.D. Fransen van de Putte, dealing with the abolition of the [V.O.C.] Spice-monopoly in 1864 in the Moluccas, focused upon the Banda Island Group. Author describes in extenso the more favorable position of the so-called "Perkeniers" and of local Bandanese peasants growing spices. He concludes that the socio-economic position is strongly upgraded and that the previous appalling poverty amongst the indigenous growers has disappeared. He also supplies, i.a. information on the local population: customs and means of subsistence, political development, local administration and taxation, &c. Good copy. Rare. (small paper ex-lib. label in upper right corner of front wrapper).
