The eldest girl stays at her grandmother for further education in Holland, the rest of the family returns to Semarang, Java. Nice copy in orig. publ. cloth, design of binding and illustrations by Rie Cramer. (original spine gone, recently skilfully replaced in modern cloth, name of prefious owner in corner of f.e.p., contents a little browning, NO brittleness however).

Dutch language translation rendered in poetry of the legendary Sundanese myth of nyai Loro Kidul (also spelled Nyi Roro Kidoel), a female javanese spirit or Deity, known as the Queen of the Southern Sea of Java. According to javanese belief she is also the mythical spiritual consort of the Multans of Mataram and Yogyakarta. This edition translated after oral Sundanese tradion. Very good copy.
