Novel situated mainly in Batavia, with extensive references to male prostitution and homo-erotic relationships. Written and published at the aftermath of the 1939 persecution of homo sexuals in dutch colonial Indonesia when many people were arrested and falsely accused, a proinent example is the false arrest of the german painter Walter Spies on Bali. (contents yellowing, NO signs of brittleness however).

Very good copy.
