Supplies still interesting information about daily life on vast Deli Estates, Eastcoast Sumatra in the first decades of the twentieth century. Very good copy. Paperback edition (as publ.).

Much more than a description of the ancient javanese Kingdom of Majapahit, also including descriptions of the controversy between mohammedanism and western religions, fanativ muslim movements on Java, incluence of so-called Hadji's on the Susuhunan, the ruler of Madjapahit, &c. The frontispiece in volume I, that should have been placed in volume II, depicts. a socalled "Rampok-party", i.e. the fight of a javanese armed with his keris against a tiger, description on page 300, vol. II; the frontisp. in vol. II should have been placed in vol. I, and depicts. an attack on Borobudur by a group of Muslim warriours under command of a Hadji, description on page 139. A very good set. Rare.

A juvenile story for dutch boys and girls in their early teens, being a promotional publication by a dutch manufacturer of Cheese-spread, "Eru" at Woerden, the Netherlands. The personified main characters "ompie Smeergraag"and 'King ERU", undertake a voyage to post-war dutch colonial Indonesia by Royal Dutch Airlines (plane depicted in first coloured plate), in order to promote the consumption of cheese-spread. The last plate has to be coloured by children in a prize-winning contest, of which manufacurer's regulations have been printed on verso of plate. Together six booklets have been published. The blank plate has to be coloured in at least three colours and in order to win a prize 6 plates must be sent to the manufacturer, so in general each publication is lacking the last plate. In this copy the plate has been neatly coloured and not taken-out. A nice example of advertising-art. Very good copy. Rare.
