The original balinese text edition has a glossary balinese-dutch at end of each tale. Published in a small edition only. Good copy. Rare. A collection historical sketches by author, a former Colonel of the Dutch East Indian colonial Army, which include a sketch on the last phase of the so-called "Pattumura" rebellion on Ambon by Thomas Matulesia (1817), an extensive essay on the Haj to Mecca and Medina, incl. notes on the influence of the Hadji on the local indonesian population of Java and the spread of Islam on the Island, the arrival of the dutch on Sumatra, a military expedition to Padang Highlands, &c. An interesting collection of personal recollections and historical sketches. Good copy. Rare. (signature in ink and ex-lib. stamp on recte of first original blank, some other faded ex-lib stamps throughout).

Nineteenth dutch language juvenile story, partly in rhumed text, situated on Java, in which two dutch sailors attacked by a Tiger, tricking this dangerous animal in a Barrel by tying a knot in his tail. A private ms. entry on verso of ti.-p. supplies the date 1879. Added Glass lantern slides NOT called-for in BUIJNSTERS, "Lust en Leering" (pp. 203-294). Good to very good copy of this FIRST edition, added slides in PRISTINE condition. Rare. (covers a bit soiled, a little bit of dust-soiling, some staining to lower outer cover, lower right corner of final page torn-away with some minimal loss of text, skilfully restored however; slide nr. somewhat damaged).
