Private dutch language record by Mannus Franken (1899-1953) of his stay in the Dutch East Indies, whilst shooting the film "Pareh, het lied van de Rijst". Mannus Franken a well-know dutch Film Director, producer and screenplay writer was invited in 1935 by Java Pacific Film Company to shoot a Film in the Dutch East Indies. Franken arrived in Indonesia in 1936 and started shooting, with a sundanese cast picked from a local Sundanese village, an exception in those days. Many of the illustration feature stills from the Film. Very good copy, WITH dustjacket, seldomly found present.
