Youth story set in Padang Highlangs, Sumatra, with as main character a desa (village) boy Mustapa (desa Hilir), and his buffalo but with as central theme calling upon youths in the new Republic of Indonesia to acquire a good education, assisting the new republic in her [economic] development ["labor vincit"]. NOT called for in the collection of Royal Institute of Linguistics and Anthropology, K.I.T.L.V. (Leiden). A very good copy. (extensive inscription in a [neat] boy's hand on recte of first blank, incl. some illustrations pasted-in, not disturbing however).
