A length poem, being a idyllic & romantic description of North Holland Province in the first half of the 18th century. Engravings illustrate topographc views of local communities of the province as Schermer, Landsmeer, Pancras, Purmerland, Ransdorp, [de] Ryp,...The extending evgraving illustrates the elected "Pinksterblom"at the community of Schermer. Besides the religious church festival of Whitsuntide or "Pinksteren", it also used to be a piece of folklore, e.g. folk customs dealing with love and marriage. At Whitsuntide local young unmarried men elected a young unmarried female to be the so-called Whitsuntide bride ("Pinksterblom") wearing a small crown and decorated with flowers, she represented the symbol of summer-loves and relationships between unmarried men and women. A very good copy in original vellum. Rare. (original title-label on spine gone, original type still readable, some very light spotting to f.e.p.'s, a very clean copy however with fine impressions of the illustrations).
