English language comparative study about a less known section of Taiwan's economic development: the phenomenon of small-scale subcontracting factories of thirty emplyees or less make items for export. These factories are found in rice fields and urban areas, front yards and living rooms, mostly employing married women in line with the Government slogan that promotes work in the home. Economic production, finance, wages and profits of Satellite Factories are researched in detail, supported by comparative data, , further attention is paid to Women, , Marriage, and Family in the Satellite Factory is described and discussed, labour control on the Shop floor. Author attempts to respond and explan if if Women are Really "Petty Minded"", Awareness, Com;liance and Resistance in the Workplace. Very good copy. (Bookblock a bit knocked at upper right corner).
