ADDED a typed letter (original) dated by the then Vice-President of the Republic of the South Molukkas ("Wakil Umum Republik Maluku Selatan"), Rotterdam, 16 Juni 1952. Original printed letter head with Maluku State Coat-of-Arms at top, 6 lines, directed to an unidentified dutch [protestant] minister, presenting an authentic carbon-copy of a cable directed to Ambon City [The Moluccas], dispatched [Den Haag?], 21 november 1945, by H.R.H. Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands, with condolences to the loss of Ambonese lives during the resistance against the Japanese during the occupation of Indonesia, and bravery during guerilla actions. Also referred to on recte of Handbill. ALSO ADDED a small orange coloured sticker (6x3cm.), with a small illustration and text:"AMBON KOMT VRIJ.
Original Hanbill published by the dutch association "Door de Eeuwen Trouw" [Loyal through the centuries], calling upon the dutch population to support Ambon and the Ambonese in their struggle for independence of the R.M.S., South Moluccan Republic. Very well preserved, very good copy. Rare.

Tomlinson on [4]pp., another article on the ship & numerous very fine coloured plates, tipped-in plates, smaller illustrations all after paintings by [ao.], Dame Laura Knight, Philip Connard, MacDonald Gill, incl. a plate depicting cartoons of various sporting heroes (boxing, Golf & Tennis: Fred Perry, Bill Tilden, "Suzanne" [Lenglen], Jean Borotra), 1 double-p. plate after a painting by C.E. Turner of R.M.S. "Q.M.", &c. depicting interiors of private diningrooms, carved doors, &c.
An interesting piece of shipping ephemera, in fairly good condition depicting fittings of R.M.S. Queen Mary: her name coincidently acquired as the Cunard White Star directors had suggested to King George V to name the ship after "Our Great Queen"(=Queen Victoria), the King however understood this as his wife's name being indicated; Queen Mary. (grease-stain in lower part of upper wrp. and in first few. pp, extremities of covers scuffed).

In this dutch language brochure author (former ABDA fleet commander in the Pacific war) stresses the political and military-strategic geographic position of the Republic of the South-Moluccas, thus creating a stronghold opposing expansion of Russian communism, protecting both Australia and the dutch Territory of New Guinea. Very fine copy.

An original provisional draft of a schholarly contribution, partly in dutch and english, drafted by Professor Justus M. van der Kroef, Bridgeport University, Connecticut, U.S.A., in which the right of selfdetermination and independence related to the Republic of the South Moluccas, R.M.S., is still to be pursued 21 years after the official Proclamation of Independence, the present legitime position of the R.M.S., including remarks on the dispute between West-New Guinea or, West-Papua and the Republic of Indonesia. Very well preserved collection. Rare.
