Stapled.[12] unnumbered pp. of synopses to all four plays announced, e.g.: The Vendetta of the Soga Brothers; Kayano Sampel; The Swindler Jirikoichi and Urabo Dance. Each synopsis preceded by table with dramatis personae, many decorative and coloured japanese sponsoring advertism throughout, incl. a full-page illustrated advertism. printed in various colours of "Toyo Kisen Kaisha " (Oriental Steamship Company), with coloured company flag, illustration of S.S. "Siberia Maru", incl. short notes on global passengerlines. Lower outer cover with an advert. by Mikimoto [cultivated pearls].

This commemmorative volume reviews the 7-year period of the reconstruction of Tokyo municipality after the disastrous earthquake of 1 september 1923. The work is preceded by the japanese National Anthem with as head-piece an illustration of Niju-bashi, the main entrance of the Imperial Palace, followed by a preface of the Mayor of Tokyo, a concise history of the city and its population growth. After that the earthquake and the damage is shortly reviewed and followed by the final report on the reconstruction, with many tables supplying information on expenditures, municipal finance, loss of wealth in Tokyo after the disaster, population cencus, zoning scheme of Tokyo region, Tokyo Fire prevention zones, restoration works,&c. A presentation-copy in a special binding, with complimentary slip of the Mayor of Tokyo Zenjiro Horikiri, tipped-in on recte of first marbled fly-leaf. Printed on art-paper. A very fine copy. Rare.

English language detailed guide to the Tokyo Science museum with pluriform holdings about pre-historic man, geology and geodesy, incl. rocks and sediments, special installations and equipment, development of technology, which includes information about loan exhibition, history and structure of the museum, periodical demonstrations, officers and staff, contributions of cash and gifts. Still of great interest and historic value. The museum was destroyed during the Second World War by bombing. Good to very good copy. A complete official report of the reconstruction of Tokyo & Yokohama, stricken by an earthquate 1st September 1923. It was a gigantic work, unparalleled in the history of city planning of the world. The report does not only supply vas information on the technical side of the reconstruction-work but also on the financing of the undertaking by foreign aid from the U.S.A.(US.dollar loan), England, private & commercial reconstruction expenditures, state of payment of business tax, number of factories and workers, economic condition in general, foreign trade, state of the Circulation of Money, Deposits in and Advances by the Bank of Japan,&c...&c...A fine copy. Nice ex-libris of J.C. Pabst pasted inside front boards.
The "catalogue" lists and describes tog. 1798 japanese tsubas and sword-fittings. It took editors and publishes some years to complete and publish this catalogue, owing to the first world war. Amonst the tsuba-masters we find a.o. Yoshiro, Kaga, Shingen, Kaneiye, Myochon-family, umetada, shoami (15th and 16th centuries, from the provinces Kyoto, Iyo, Awa, Shonai, Aizu, Akita, &c...). Catalogue is preceded by a concise history of Japanese Sword-fittings and furniture: Tsuba-masters and Sword-furniture masters. This catalogue describing the collection of Georg Oest is of great historical imporance as the collection disappeared from Berlin after the fall to Russia, and has never been seen again. A very good copy. Rare.
