[Signed:] Buitenzorg den 2° Januarij 1877, de Gouverneur-Generaal voornoemd "Van Lansberge". ORIGINAL military Charter, 35x21.5 cm. (verso blank). Partly printed dutch text, rest in manuscript in ink in a neat hand. Text within a broad decorative monochrome lithographed border, featuring military symbols as flags, pennants arms, field guns, etc., Royal Dutch Government Coat-of-Arms at Top.
Dutch language ORIGINAL Military Charter, presented together with a military order with bar (not present) to Sergeant major Pieter Marijs, 8th Batallion Infantry Royal Dutch East Indies Army KNIL, registration number 67999, awarded for gallantry during military operations against Aceh (North Sumatra), 2nd. January 1877. Original nineteenth century copies are rarely found. (Folds very delicate and reinforced by clearview acidfree restorer's tape, brown offsetting of removed sellotape to folds, small hole in centre with los of some charaters only, still an acceptaple piece of military memorabilia however).

Kiel, Burmeister, nd.[1904]. sm.slim folio. orig.pict. wrappers, title printed in manuscript. 20pp. printed in manuscript.Loosely added the original baptimal certificate issued to the fireman a.b. S.M.S. "Hertha" Otto Künzel. Text printed in manuscript within a ropelike border accompanied by a very large illustration in lower left corner decorated with palm-trees and the ship just before crossing the line; another illustration in upper left corner depicting a baptimal scene of Kúnzel surrounded by Neptune and his helpers. Certificate signed by Neptunus with his seal. PICTURE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
Text completely in rhyme describing the crossing-the-line celebration in which the fireman Otto Künzel receiced his line-crossing baptism at 105° l.'2 Eastern at 17 December 1904. Textbook probably written by the same fireman. The S.M.S."Hertha" was one of the 4 armed merchants patrolling the Pacific and China Sea in the 19th and first decade of the 20th century, checking upon the german colonies in the region. This tour of duty took 2 years in a row, after the period the replacement patrol-ship arrived. A curious & very well preserved piece of Maritime Ephemera. Rare. (some minor restorations to spine of text-book, very skilfully done).

These little scoring-tables have been dispersed amongst the passengers of the Nederland Line Royal Dutch Mail. Very well preserved, with its original charmingly designed thin boards covers in maritime-style.

"Oranje Nassau" to Madeira and the dutch territory of the West Indies (Curaçao, Aruba, Surinam, &c.). Very fine copy. (staples a bit rusty, NO signs of offsetting however).
