Missionary juvenile, relating the story of the arrival of the Muslim preacher Sjeiq Ibn Maulana, at Cheribon municipality in the 15th century, incl. the spread of Islam in the region; followed by the history of dutch protestant missionary labour at Cheribon by A. Dijkstra, who, after mastering the javanese language, delivered his first public divine service in javanese in 1866 at the house of a chinese convert: Yoe Ong Pau, who later founded a primary school on his property. Dijkstra worked, up till his death in 1893, amongst the chinese and javanese population, of which the converts suffered hatred and animosity from their relatives. A very rare juvenile missionary story. Good copy. (wrappers. with some minimal chipping, staples rusty).

Rather detailed account of the history, progress of evangelical mission amongst the Karen Tribe of North Burma, which includes painstaken work amounst indigenous subgroupings, anthropological, ethnographical and social structures. Very good ungrimmed copy of the first edition. (small stain on lower outer boards, endpapers each with a brown spot).

It includes chapters about the christianization of the Dutch East Indies, especially on Ambon and the Uliasser tribes from the Moluccas. Very fine copy. (Hftitle browned).
