Formal minutes to this meeting, incl. subjects voted, also supplying information on further education of missionaries in the field, a.o. foreign, e.g. Far Eastern, language courses to be taken at Yale and Berkeley Universities, publication of books, courses of Communism, a proposal to recruit young people directly from college to teach english at missionary schools abroad, e.g. Japan, Korea, Indonesia, &c. Information supplied in the committee minutes are still of historical importance. Committee is a kind of advisory board to U.S. and Canadian protestant missionary societies, e.g. Presbyterian, Evangelical, &c. Well preserved.

Dutch language juvenile story about a dutch protestant missionary and a young civil administrator, both posted in Waropen and Awek district, dutch territory of New Gu8nea. A picture is painted of a different opinion about headhunting between the missionary and the civil servent and a young papuan assistant-minister, a Guru who tells his story of initiation. Finally the headhunting tribe is converted to the christian faith, thus ending the adat rules about headhunting. Good copy. (lower outer cover somewhat soiled and marked).

First part, 1924, is a dutch language introduction about Ziegenbalg and one of his major publications about Malabar Paganism and Pagans (called "Nayres"]. The second volume, 1926 is the coomplete text in modern german language in which Ziegenbalg supplies detailed scholarly information about Pagans and Paganism in Southern Indie (Tranquebar and Bangalore), which includes his analysis of the value of christianization as he (Ziegenbalg) had observed the fact that in diffcult times converts tended to return to their pagan beliefs. Verbatim text is followed by critical notes and supplementary texts by W. Caland. Rare. (some unobtrusive library stamps, a bit dog-eard, contents crisp and clean). Bartholomeus Ziegenbalg was a member of the Lutheran Clergy and the first Priest Missionary of India
